About a three weeks ago my friend came back from a sailing holiday with his family to Greece, over there he made a lot of friends, one being this girl from Australia.
He really misses her now and when she is coming over to England in about two weeks he is away so he wont see her then either. He may never see this girl again, and I understand that right now he will miss her but how long do you think it will take for him to just move on?Boy met girl on holiday - advice?
as strange as this may seem, he is trying to separate his feelings for her and compartmentalize those feelings as 'being on vacation, met girl, she lives half a world away and it'll never happen'. It's easier for a guy to just try to move on in that way - and if she came back to visit him, it'd be really hard for him to reawaken those feelings without it hurting him even more when she goes away.
Basically speaking, it's pain management. It's better to hurt a little now than a lot later. There is no timetable for dealing with pain, so it'll take him as long as he needs to get over her. that's it.

It depends on how strong he is and if he clings on to the hope of them .Or If he is just the kind to get on with thing.If he does just get on with things then a few weeks if he doesnt and feels sorry for himslef it could take a while longer
about 2 months but that's if he does not stay in contact with her
