I need advice from a girl [please, no boys]?

Well.. i'm 14 and I got my period when I was 12. Anywho, when I got it the first time I was really scared because I thought you were suppossed to feel pain when you get it, but then my mom said that some people don't have that pain. We dont really talk deep stuff or anything, that's probably my fault. But anyway, this isn't what this is about. Until this year, im 14 like I said, I've been having small stomache aches when I get my period, but it's only like when it starts.. Their not as painful, their just, annoying I guess. This is my third time that it has happened. Why didn't I have pain before and why do I have it now?I need advice from a girl [please, no boys]?
Hi! Don't worry about it, same here. Most of the time I get terrible pains, and then other times it's just before I start, and it's absolutely normal. It's true, some lucky people out there =], have no pains whatsoever, but others do... I know exactly what you mean anout the annoying pains before you start, it happens to me most of the time.

In the beginning you probably didn't get that because your body was adjusting and maybe your periods were a bit irregular. No that you've adjusted, you will probably have these regulary, but it doesn't seem so bad, and thankfully, you can mke them better! Here are some suggestions I use alot:

1) You need alot of rest, so take things easy. Lie on your bed, and crunch up in a ball if it's really bad - sounds funny but it's relieving =)

2) Put a hot water bottle on your lower abdomen

3) Take a nice, loooong hot bath - another chance to relax!

4) Exercise if you can, it's very relaxing and helps with the pain. If you're very tired, it's not medically recommended, you don't wanna pass out.

5) Take some painkillers like Panadol, to help you if it's painful.

6) Eating bananas also helps ease your pain, believe it or not :) Also try a hot drink, like tea.Make sure you keep your body hydrated!

I really hope I helped and that you'll feel better! xxxI need advice from a girl [please, no boys]?
Hi, you are normal. Here is a link about having your period:

http://www.4woman.gov/faq/menstru.htm

to help with cramps: Advil or Motrin is great. Also, if you can manage to get some Viactive chews or other calcium supplement) it has been shown to help with cramping. At your age you should be making sure your calcium intake is more than adequate as you are growing, etc. and to help prevent osteoporosis later in life!
for the pain take some advil or motrin (spell) and u'll be fine.u could also try a heating pad which helps me alot and just rest and take it easy...the pain usually only last the 1st few days of ur period...hope u feel better
at the beginning, your body has no set pattern yet - periods can be irregular in every way - longer some months, less pain, more pain, shorter, come at different times etc.. as time goes on, your body gets into a pattern and your periods will be more predictable.

If you have only a little pain, count yourself lucky, girl!
It's normal to have cramps (pain) some months, and other times not at all. Your cycle will vary slightly from month to month (the symptoms, I mean) and will vary over the years. There is a very wide range of normal.

The best remedy is to take ibuprofen (Advil). It is an anti-inflammatory, so it tends to work a little better for period pain/period headaches than Tylenol.
i guess as u get older the pain gets a little worse but you can help that by doing exercise that normaly helps i do them all the time but bare in mind as you do get older and i mean older it will get easier to manage trust me.
A lot of good information. Most folks don't feel pain those first times, maybe even years. Some don't feel pain until after preg. It all can change.

Some secret information I can give you is this: If you take motrin/ibuprofin right at the beginning, right when you feel the slightest twinge or first spotting, you may not get any cramps at all! Ibuprofin is an anti-inflamatory and if you take it before the pain is more serious, you can fight off pain altogether!
its normal

take some Midol
I am so sorry Cassandra but you now have that dreaded peiod pain.

You may not have it every, single time. And other times it will be worse and sometimes better than before.

Usually when you start your period there is no endometrium, the cells that line the womb and bleed during your perod, on the outside.

Don't be scared by this as it happens to about 95% of women. And is considered' normal' by some professionals. Because this is your 3rd time some endometrium may have got out. So easy to do and nothing you did.

There are lot's of things you can do to help your pain.

1) Try a heat pack or wheat bag on your stomach or painful area.

2) Take some paracetamol or Asprin.

3) Buscopan is fantastic and you can buy it at the chemist. It stops all types of stomach pain in it's tracks and we use it in hospital a lot.

4) Go have a relaxing, warm bath. Wear a tampon if you are going to try that.

5) Try some natural gel's and creams that are out there when in pain.

6) Take some Valarium drops from the Health Food shop.

It sometimes a matter of finding something that works and keep on doing it until it stops working.

I know there will be some special foods to eat but can't think of any now.

Hope this helps.
well it can happen to some people that the older you get the more painfull your period becomes (not to say that by the time your 30 they will be excrutiating though, not at all!) so this could be your case..

anyway as far as getting rid of pain?

exercize, keep warm (e.g wear socks and dont walk around baer feet) and if all fails, microdoll helps!
Lots of Modal.Its normal though
Those stomach pains that you get when you first start your period are called menstrual cramps. But your mother is right when she says that not all women suffer from cramps every month. Some women like me suffer from cramps so bad that we need prescription medicine like Naproxen to help relieve the pain and for some women all they might need is some Aleve or Ibuprofin. Cramps differ from month to month. One month you may find that you may have cramps and the next month you may not have any cramps. Diet and exercise also affect your period every month.
Chances are, sometimes it will be really bad and other times you'll barely notice it but it will settle down eventually.

I had a few around about age 15 where I was really nauseous- just like morning sickness and in so much pain I thought I was getting a sample of what to expect in labour all at the same time! Other times I had really short periods (like 3 days), really long ones (2 weeks) and almost pain-free cycles. Also my cycle length varied a lot at first so it was hard to know when to expect it.

As time goes on your body sorts itself out and you will get to know what to expect and it will all even out so that it's much the same every time.

To get rid of the pain or at least make it better try:

-going for a walk or run (also good for helping get it all over quicker by increasing the flow)

-stretching (try pilates or yoga)

-swimming (wear a tampon)

-a hot bath

-a heat pack or hot water bottle (especially to bed at night)

-pain killer (anti-inflamatory is best)

if you want to try alternative meds/supplements then think about

-evening primrose oil capsules

-raspberry leaf tea or tablets

Look them up on the web.

Also, keeping busy and being physically active can help distract you. If you spend all day lying in bed feeling sorry for yourself you will have a much worse day and more pain than if you got up and did something active.
